Sun-Earth Day: 2005-2013
Sun-Earth Day is comprised of a series of programs and events that occur throughout the year, culminating with a celebration on or near the Spring Equinox. Each year the Sun-Earth Day program wraps a fresh new thematic approach around NASA's Sun-Earth Connection science, missions and cutting edge research; exposing this great resource to an international audience of millions.
My Role
I was tasked with developing and designing a product that maintained the One NASA look and feel while also maintaining a personality and feel of its own. From the years 2005 to 2013 I was the only developer on this project, and I was the primary designer. I was responsible for the information architecture and on-line communication strategies; all maintenance, security issues, corrections, 508c compliance and archiving fell to me. I was one of the few developers at NASA championing Web Standards and CSS in 2003, and I led the way for agency wide adoption of those technologies using Sun-Earth Day as an example.
